Why European OEMs Are Adding India to Their Supply Chain
Relying on a single country, or a single region, has become a real business risk. Manufacturing in India gives you a second, independent source without giving up quality.
A China plus one strategy that works
India is the most practical China plus one location for electronics. Keep your existing suppliers and add India for new products, high-mix lines or backup capacity.

Lower total cost than European EMS
European EMS capacity is under pressure from labour shortages and rising wages. India is cost-competitive for labour-intensive work such as through-hole assembly, wire harnesses and box build.
Engineers in English, in your time zone

A trade agreement that brings us closer
The India–EU Free Trade Agreement, concluded in January 2026, is expected to lower duties and give long-term certainty for trade between India and Europe.
What the India–EU FTA Means for Electronics Sourcing
India and the European Union concluded negotiations on their Free Trade Agreement on 27 January 2026, one of the largest trade agreements either side has agreed. It is expected to enter into force in 2027, once both sides ratify it.
Last updated:

What it means for European electronics buyers
Lower or zero duties on a large share of goods traded between India and the EU, with most cuts applying on entry into force and others phased in over several years.
Long-term certainty for sourcing decisions, which matters for products with 5 to 15-year lifecycles.
Clear rules of origin so products assembled in India can qualify for preferential treatment.
Quick duty check
Many PCB assemblies and components already enter the EU at low or zero duty. The biggest gains are expected on finished products, such as complete box builds, meters, chargers and controllers. Pick what you buy:

Frequently Asked Questions
What European OEMs ask us most about the India–EU FTA, EU compliance, shipping and getting started.
01Is India a good alternative to China for European electronics companies?
Yes, for many products. Electronics contract manufacturing in India offers competitive costs, English-speaking engineers, more working-hour overlap with Europe than China, and a Free Trade Agreement with the EU that is expected to enter into force in 2027. Most European OEMs add India as a second source rather than moving everything at once, starting with new products, high-mix lines or labour-intensive work such as through-hole assembly, wire harnesses and box build.
02How will the India–EU FTA affect electronics imports into Europe?
The India–EU Free Trade Agreement was concluded in January 2026 and is expected to enter into force in 2027, once both sides ratify it. It will lower or remove duties on a large share of goods traded between India and the EU and add long-term certainty for sourcing. Many PCB assemblies already enter the EU at low or zero duty, so the biggest benefit is expected on finished electronic products. Send us your HS code and we will help you assess the expected duty position.
03Can you support CE marking, RoHS and REACH compliance?
Yes. We build with RoHS-compliant processes, provide RoHS and REACH declarations, and supply the build records, test records and traceability your CE technical file needs. CE marking itself remains the responsibility of the product owner, and we build your product exactly to the approved design under controlled change management.
04Can you support the EU Cyber Resilience Act for connected products?
We support it on the manufacturing side, with controlled firmware programming and serial-number traceability for connected products, ahead of the December 2027 deadline when the main CRA obligations apply. Product security design remains with the OEM, and we work to your programming and test instructions.
05How long does shipping from India to Europe take?
It depends on the route and mode. Air freight from Bangalore takes a few days and suits prototypes and urgent orders. Sea freight to Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp and other European ports takes several weeks and can vary with the Red Sea situation. We confirm transit times for every shipment and plan buffers into your delivery schedule so your line is not affected.
06How do you protect our intellectual property?
We sign an NDA before receiving any design files, restrict access to your data to the people working on your project, and use your documents only for your builds.
07What volumes do you handle for European customers?
We support everything from prototypes and low-volume, high-mix builds to high-volume production, on SMT lines with a capacity of over 1 million components per hour across three plants in India. Share your part numbers and annual volumes and we will suggest the right batch and delivery plan.
08Can we audit your plant?
Yes. European customers are welcome to audit our plants in Bangalore, Mysore and Baddi. Our quality system is certified to IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 13485:2016, with IPC Class II workmanship as standard and Class III on request.
09How do we start moving production to India?
Send your Gerber, BOM, drawings and annual volumes. We sign an NDA, run a DFM review, send an itemised quotation, build prototypes for your approval and then move into volume production, with export packing and delivery to your site in Europe.
